Frequently Asked Questions

Even though the new moon starts a new month, actually seeing the crescent after new moon can be tricky. Sometimes, people spot the crescent with their eyes as early as 15.5 hours after new moon, while with a telescope, it might be seen a bit sooner, like 12.1 hours after. Every month is a bit different. This is why moonsighting for Ramadan sometimes happens on different days in different places.
