239. Dua Masoora #7 (Allahumma A Inni Ala Zikrika)

اَللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ، وَشُكْرِكَ، وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ

Dua Masoora English Transliteration

Allaahumma 'a'innee 'alaa dhikrika, wa shukrika, wahusni 'ibaadatik

Dua Masoora English Translation

O Allah, help me to remember You, to give You thanks, and to perform Your worship in the best manner.

Mu'adh bin Jabal (RA) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) caught his hand and said: By Allah, I love you, Mu'adh. By Allah, I love you. I give some instruction to you. Never leave to recite this supplication after every (prescribed) prayer: (The dua is mentioned above)

Arabic Text

عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ وَقَالَ ‏ "‏ يَا مُعَاذُ وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لأُحِبُّكَ وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لأُحِبُّكَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ ‏"‏ أُوصِيكَ يَا مُعَاذُ لاَ تَدَعَنَّ فِي دُبُرِ كُلِّ صَلاَةٍ أَنْ تَقُولَ اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ ‏"‏‏.‏

Translation

Mu’adh bin Jabal reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) took hold of my hand and said, “O Mu’adh, by Allah, I love you, so I advise you, O Mu’adh, never leave saying after every prayer: ‘O Allah, help me to remember You, to give You thanks, and to worship You in the best manner.’”

Making dua after the last Tashahhud is considered sunnah by most scholars, but some say it might even be wajib in certain situations.
