Hadith about the Dua

Translation

Abu Huraira narrated: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “When the Imam says, ‘Samiʿa Allahu liman ḥamidah,’ you should say, ‘Allahumma Rabbana lakal-hamd.’ For whoever’s saying coincides with that of the angels, his past sins will be forgiven.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 796)

Frequently Asked Questions

During ruku, you say: “Subhana Rabbiyal Adheem” which means ""Glory is to my Lord, the Most Great."" Some also recite: O Allah! to You I bow (in prayer) and in You I believe and to You I have submitted. Before You my hearing is humbled, as is my sight, my mind, my bones, my nerves and what my feet have mounted upon (for travel). This ruku dua is a way of praising Allah while bowing.
