532. Dua for evil eye (Masnoon dua)
When one of you sees something in his brother's, or his own, or his own possessions that makes him wonder, let him say:

Allah give blessings to you.
Because, for the evil eye is real.
Hadith about the Dua
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هِشَامٍ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، عَنْ أَبِي وَاقِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ " اسْتَعِيذُوا بِاللَّهِ فَإِنَّ الْعَيْنَ حَقٌّ " .
Translation
It was narrated from ‘Aishah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Seek refuge with Allah, for the evil eye is real.” [Sahih (Albani). Ibn Majah: 3508, 3509]
Frequently Ask & Question
Some people do the oil test by placing a drop of olive oil on water. If the oil sinks, it is believed the evil eye is present. This is a traditional method people use to check for bad nazar.
