494. Dua After Gathering

Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (RA): We used to count and see that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to say a hundred times after the meeting:

رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَتُبْ عَلَىَّ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ

My Lord, forgive me and accept my repentance, You are the Ever-Relenting, the All-Forgiving.

Hadith about the Dua

Arabic Text

عَنْ أَبِي بَرْزَةَ الأَسْلَمِيِّ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ بِإِثْرِ إِذَا قَامَ مِنَ الْمَجْلِسِ:‏‏‏‏ "رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَتُبْ عَلَيَّ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ"

Translation

Abu Barzah Al-Aslami narrated: Whenever the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) got up from a gathering, he would say: "My Lord, forgive me and accept my repentance. Indeed, You are the Ever-Relenting, the Most Merciful (Rabbighfir li wa tub ‘alayya, innaka anta at-Tawwab ar-Raheem)."
