480. Muslim Greetings (Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh)

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

As-salaamu 'alaykum wara'hmatullaahi wa barakaatuh

Muslim Greetings English Translation

Peace be upon you, and the Mercy of Allah and His Blessings.

By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, you will not enter Paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another. Shall I not tell you of something that will help you to achieve that? Spread (the greeting of) salaam amongst yourselves.` [1] The person who can combine three things, can combines faith- 1. Justice for oneself, 2. Give salaam to everyone in the world, and 3. Give charity despite having few wealth [2] Once a man asked prophet (ﷺ) which deed is best in islam ? prophet (ﷺ) replied that, “To feed people and give salaam to the persons who are known or unknown to you. Hadith about the Dua

Arabic Text

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَيُّ الإِسْلاَمِ خَيْرٌ؟ قَالَ: "تُطْعِمُ الطَّعَامَ، وَتَقْرَأُ السَّلاَمَ عَلَى مَنْ عَرَفْتَ وَمَنْ لَمْ تَعْرِفْ". وَالسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

Translation

Abdullah ibn Amr reported: A man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "Which Islam is best?" He replied, "To feed the hungry and to greet with peace those you know and those you do not know." And [say]: Peace be upon you, and the Mercy of Allah and His Blessings. (Sahih Bukhari 12, with Fathul Baari 1/82; Musnad Ahmad 1430)
