129. Dua of Sleep
بِاسْمِكَ رَبِّي وَضَعْتُ جَنْبِي، وَبِكَ أَرْفَعُهُ، فَإِنْ أَمْسَكْتَ نَفْسِي فَارْحَمْهَا، وَإِنْ أَرْسَلْتَهَا فَاحْفَظْهَا، بِمَا تَحْفَظُ بِهِ عِبَادَكَ الصَّالِحِينَ
Dua of Sleep English Transliteration
Bismika Rabbee wada'tu janbee, wa bika 'arfa'uhu, fa'in 'amsakta nafsee far’hamhaa, wa 'in 'arsaltahaa fa’hfadh haa, bimaa ta’hfadhu bihi 'ibaadakas-saaliheen
Dua of Sleep English Translation
In Your name my Lord, I lie down and in Your name I rise, so if You should take my soul then have mercy upon it, and if You should return my soul then protect it in the manner You do so with Your righteous servants.
Narrated by Abu Huraira (RA): The Prophet (ﷺ) said, When anyone of you go to bed, he should shake out his bed with the inside of his waist sheet, for he does not know what has come on to it after him, and then he should say: (The dua is mentioned above)

بِاسْمِكَ رَبِّي وَضَعْتُ جَنْبِي، وَبِكَ أَرْفَعُهُ، فَإِنْ أَمْسَكْتَ نَفْسِي فَارْحَمْهَا، وَإِنْ أَرْسَلْتَهَا فَاحْفَظْهَا، بِمَا تَحْفَظُ بِهِ عِبَادَكَ الصَّالِحِينَ
Hudhaifa narrated: Whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) went to bed at night, he would put his hand under his cheek and say: “In Your name, O my Lord, I lay my side down, and by Your leave I raise it. If You should take my soul, have mercy on it, and if You should return it, then protect it as You protect Your righteous servants.”
