When they heard his voice, laughter vanished from them and they feared his malediction. Then Prophet (ﷺ) said:

Ibn Mas’ud (RA) said,”By One Who sent Muhammad (ﷺ) with truth, I saw (all) those he had named lying slain on the Day of Badr. Their dead bodies were dragged to be thrown into a pit near the battlefield”. In another narration, “I swear by Allah that I saw them lying slain in the battlefield of Badr. It being a hot day, their complexion had changed (showing signs of decay).”

‘Abdullah bin Mas‘ud narrated: While the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was praying at the Ka‘bah and Abu Jahl and his companions were sitting nearby, some of them said to others, “Who among you will fetch the gut and filth of the slaughtered camel of so-and-so and place it on the back of Muhammad when he prostrates?” The worst among them went and brought it, and when the Prophet (ﷺ) prostrated, he placed it between his shoulders. They laughed and leaned upon one another. I was standing and watching, and if I had the power, I would have removed it from the back of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). The Prophet remained in prostration, not raising his head, until someone went and informed Fatimah. She came and removed it from him, then turned toward them and rebuked them. When the Prophet (ﷺ) finished his prayer, he raised his voice and invoked Allah against them. Whenever he made supplication, he would repeat it three times. He said, “O Allah, deal with Quraysh” three times. When they heard his supplication, they became silent and feared his prayer. Then he said, “O Allah, deal with Abu Jahl bin Hisham, ‘Utbah bin Rabi‘ah, Shaibah bin Rabi‘ah, Walid bin ‘Uqbah, Umayyah bin Khalaf, and ‘Uqbah bin Abi Mu‘ait,” and he mentioned a seventh whom I did not remember.
