أَسْتَوْدِعُ اللَّهَ دِيْنَكَ وَأَمَانَتَكَ وَخَوَاتِيْمَ عَمَلِكَ

I leave your religion in the care of Allah, as well as your safety, and the last of your deeds.

Abdullah ibn Umar (RA) said, The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: when he bid farewell, he grab his hand and did musafaha and said the above mentioned dua.In another narration, Abdullah Ibn Yazid Khatmi (RA) said, The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) bid farewell by saying these words. But in this case, he used plural (kum) instead of singular (ka): “Astad’iullaha diinaakum wa amaanatakum wa khawatima a’maalikum” I leave your religion in the care of Allah, as well as your safety, and the last of your deeds.

Hadith about the Dua

Arabic Text

عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ أَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِيَدِهِ وَقَالَ ‏ "‏ إِنِّي أُوَدِّعُكَ اللَّهَ الَّذِي لاَ تَضِيعُ وَدَائِعُهُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَسَالِمٍ وَنَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ‏.‏

Translation

Ibn ‘Umar narrated: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) took his hand and said: “Indeed, I entrust your religion, your trustworthiness, and the last of your deeds to Allah.” (Saying of the Prophet: “Astawdi‘ullāha dīnak, wa amānatak, wa khawātīma ‘amalik” — “I leave your religion in the care of Allah, as well as your trust and the last of your deeds.”)
