Dua for Death and Patience English Translation

Whatever Allah takes is His, and whatever He gives is His, and everything with Him has a limited fixed term (in this world).

Narrated by Usama bin Zaid (RA): We were with the Prophet (ﷺ) when suddenly there came to him a messenger from one of his daughters who was asking him to come and see her son who was dying. The Prophet (ﷺ) said (to the messenger), (The dua is Mentioned above). So order her to be patient and hope for Allah's reward.

Hadith about the Dua

Translation

Umm Salama narrated: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) entered upon Abu Salamah (after his death) and his eyes were open. He closed them and said: "When the soul is seized, the eyesight follows it." Some people from his family started weeping. He said: "Do not supplicate for yourselves except for good, for the angels say 'Ameen' to what you say." Then he said: "O Allah, forgive Abu Salamah, raise his rank among the rightly guided, and allow his successors to remain after him. Forgive us and him, O Lord of the worlds, expand his grave and illuminate it for him." The Prophet (ﷺ) also said: "Indeed, whatever Allah takes belongs to Him, and whatever He gives belongs to Him, and everything with Him has a specified term." (Bukhari 7377, Muslim 920)
