اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ دَارَ قَوْمٍ مُؤْمِنِيْنَ، وَإِنَّا إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ بِكُمْ لَاحِقُوْنَ

As-salamu 'alaikum dara qaumin mu’minin, wa inna-insha- allahu bikum la-‘hikun

Peace be upon you, O you who believe. We will meet you, if Allah willing.

Abu Hurairah said, "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went to the graveyard and said these words."

Arabic Text

عَنْ بُرَيْدَةَ، قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُعَلِّمُهُمْ إِذَا خَرَجُوا إِلَى الْمَقَابِرِ أَنْ يَقُولَ قَائِلُهُمْ: السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَهْلَ الدِّيَارِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُسْلِمِينَ، وَإِنَّا إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَلاحِقُونَ، أَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ لَنَا وَلَكُمُ الْعَافِيَةَ.

Translation

Buraidah narrated: "The Prophet (ﷺ) used to teach them when they went out to the graveyards to say: 'Peace be upon you, O inhabitants of the dwellings, believers and Muslims. Indeed, we are, if Allah wills, to join you. We ask Allah for well-being for us and for you.'"
