768. Dua for Protection of Hearing and Sight
The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
Dua for Protection of Hearing and Sight in Arabic
اَللَّهُمَّ مَتِّعْنِيْ بِسَمْعِيْ وَبَصَرِيْ وَاجْعَلْهُمَا الْوَارِثَ مِنِّيْ وَانْصُرْنِيْ عَلَى عَدُوِّيْ وَأَرِنِيْ مِنْهُ ثَأْرِيْ
Dua for Protection of Hearing and Sight English Transliteration
Allaahumma mati‛ni bi sam‛i wa basari waj-‛alhumal-waaritha minni, wan-surni 'alaa 'aduwwi wa-arini minhu bi tha’ri
Dua for Protection of Hearing and Sight English Translation
O Allah, let me enjoy my sight and hearing and make them remain sound until I die. Turn away my enemy and grant me revenge on him.
Hadith about the Dua
Arabic Text
"حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ: اللَّهُمَّ مَتِّعْنِي بِسَمْعِي وَبَصَرِي، وَاجْعَلْهُمَا الْوَارِثَ مِنِّي، وَانْصُرْنِي عَلَى عَدُوِّي، وَأَرِنِي مِنْهُ ثَأْرِي.
Abu Hurayra reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to say, ""O Allah, let me enjoy my sight and hearing and make them remain sound until I die. Turn away my enemy and grant me revenge on him."" [Sahih (Albani). Adabul Mufrad: 650]
